Sri Trang makes and sells natural rubber and rubber gloves, from tapping trees to the finished glove.
Sri Trang Agro-Industry is a rubber company. It does two main things: it turns latex tapped from rubber trees into blocks and other raw rubber sold to tire makers and factories, and it makes rubber gloves for hospitals, clinics, and everyday use. It is based in Thailand, which is one of the world's biggest rubber-producing countries, and it runs factories and plantations across Thailand and other parts of Asia.
The raw rubber business is the older and larger part. Rubber trees produce a milky liquid called latex, and Sri Trang collects it, processes it into standard rubber blocks, and sells it to companies that make tires, belts, and other rubber goods. This part of the business rises and falls with global rubber prices, which swing a lot. When prices are high, the company makes easy money. When they drop, profits can shrink fast. Sri Trang has tried to soften these swings by owning more of the chain itself, including rubber plantations. The gloves business is the newer growth engine. Sri Trang makes nitrile and latex gloves, mostly for healthcare and industrial use, and it has invested heavily in building large glove factories. This is a tougher, more competitive market. Big players sell gloves at thin margins, and after the pandemic boom faded, the whole industry faced a glut of supply and falling prices. Sri Trang has taken on debt to expand glove production, which makes it more sensitive to downturns.
So the bet is simple on paper: use the rubber tree business for scale and steady supply, and use gloves as a higher-value product to grow. But both parts are cyclical and tied to commodity prices, and the glove expansion has been painful while the market digests oversupply. The company earns money from volume β selling huge amounts of rubber and gloves to industrial and medical buyers worldwide β so its health depends on prices staying decent and its new glove capacity actually getting used.
